Mary J Blige “What love is”, is a wonderful song that
can also be considered poetry. This song debuted in 07
on her album Growing pains she is not just a Grammy Award-winning
singer, writer she is also a poet. This song is filled with many different
poetic devices. “What Love is” should be counted a poem because it
uses poetic devices such as sound, imagery, and similes to change the
listener’s perspective on what love is.
First, the poem has 2 types of sound repetition and rhyme.
The first type of sound is rhyme. One example is “Reason to cry
yourself to sleep at night. Start a fight. Makeup, breakup, wrong, or right.”
The end of each line rhymes with one another. Another sound is repetition.
The chorus repeats 3 times through out the song. It makes the song catchy,
and helps you to remember the main idea of the song. The next example
of repetition is in the bridge. It keeps repeating “That’s love”. These
2 different sounds make this song sound good.
Second poetic device this song has is imagery. First description that appeals
to the sense is in the chorus.’ It shows that love can be sometimes happy or sad and gloomy like rain. Next example is when the song says “ darkest day, brightest night”. The word darkest helps to picture how
dark the day is. The last example is “Gentle Kiss”. The song describes what a kiss feels like when you’re in love. These descriptive adjectives help the listener to make a clear image of love.
Finally, the last part that makes this poem sound good is its ability to leave a new perspective.
The first new perspective is that love has ups and downs. ”It feels like sunshine. It feels like rain”
This is saying through similes, that love is sometimes happy and sometimes sad. Second, the song leaves a new
perspective by exposing the importance of love. ”Everybody needs it. We cant live without it.”
In this line it says that everybody needs love and that it is so important that nobody can live without.
Lastly the song says that love is a “reason to live”. According to the song if there is nothing else to live for you should live for love .These three different things leave the listener with a new perspective on love.
This song is filled with many different poetic devices and should be considered a poem.
The first poetic device was sound. This song is filled with rhyme and repetition. Second, part that
should make this song be considered a poem is that it has a lot of imagery. For example the song used
many descriptive adjectives that appealed to the sense of sight such as the word darkest. Finally,
the song left the reader with a new perspective on love. This song made the listener see love in
a new way through its many different similes.

There are many different opinions on the topic weather beats or lyrics are more important to a song. Some people believe Lyrics are more important in a song than because words are more important than sounds. Sierra stated “People need to hear what the words are actually saying.” Desiree agreed by saying “People really listen to the words more than the beats because that’s what make people say you decent.” However some people believe the beat is more important because it determines if you like the song
before the lyrics begin. Rory said “Nobody will listen if your beats is corny.”
According to Lynnae “The beat is what you heat first so it attracts you to the song.”
In addition another person just feels lyrics are important. Myles said “Lyrics are better.”
He just feels lyrics are better than the beat. Many people have different opinions about the two most important parts of a song.

Animal farm final essay
Although it may seem true sometimes what people hear and believe may all be lies. The book Animal Farm was written in 1942 in England by George Orwell. It was written to criticize the dictator of Russia Stalin. It was also used to criticize the Russian people for following Stalin by using animals to show the lies that Stalin was telling the Russian people. In Animal Farm the way characters respond to stories have a strong connection to their ability to survive.
One person who mastered the stories is Snowball he told all the lies on the farm.
First he lies about the pigs sleeping in beds. According to the 4th commandment no animal shall sleep in beds. He says “a bed is merely a place to sleep in. A pile of straw in a stall is a bed properly regarded. The rule was against sheets, which are human invention.” Second he lies about the pigs stilling the milk. The pigs kept stilling the milk from the other animals and keeping it for themselves. He told the other animals that they don’t really like milk and are only eating it for brain power so they can be stronger for the other animals. Third he lied about Boxer’s death. . Boxer was sent to a slaughter house to be turned in to glue. However he told all the other animals that he died peacefully at the doctors. Due to all his lies he became rich and powerful.
Next Benjamin caught on and understood when Snowball was lying. For one he was the only one who never sided with Snowball or Napoleon. When Snowball said the windmill would make work easier but Snowball wanted to focus on getting more food he refused to believe that there would ever be more food or less work. He said “windmill or no windmill, life would go on as it has always gone on- that is, badly.” Second he noticed the commandments changed. Towards the end of the book Benjamin and Clover where steering at the commandment wall. They noticed it was different. He read it allowed and it said “all animal are equal but some are more equal than others”. It was only one commandment rather when they first started with seven. Finally he noticed that when boxer past out that he was being sent away in a slaughter truck. Benjamin began yelling “fool fool”. He was the only one that noticed that Boxer was being sent away to a slaughterer. He said to the animals “do you not understand what this means they are taking him to the knackers” Benjamin understood the lies that was being told and was smart enough not to believe them that is why the pigs did not kill him.
Finally Boxer became rapped up in the lies he, believed everything the pigs told him. First he believed everything Squealer told him about the work they had to do on the windmill to finish it. When he had to go through the long laborious process of building the windmill he said “I will work harder”. Boxer would even get up in the middle of the night to drag more stone up to the windmill. Second he believed every messaged delivered from Napoleon through Squealer. The animals where told that
they would have to build a windmill and it would be less work for them in the future even though
it was really more work. However all boxer said was” Napoleon is always right”. As a result of Boxers in ability to determine a lie from the truth he was sent to his death. When Boxer passed out and complained of his lungs he was suppose to be able to retire but instead he was sent to death. The pigs
sent Boxer to a horse slaughterer to be turned in to glue. This is what happened to the animals on the farm that became rapped up in all the lies.
In Animal Farm an animal’s fate depends upon his ability to determine a lie from the truth. The animals all respond to the lies in a different way. First, Squealer was the main person on the farm who told the lies to all the other animals; he survived all the way to the end of the story. Second, Benjamin was able to determine when Squealer was lying this allowed him to survive on the farm.
Finally, Boxer was not able to determine a lie from the truth and was eventually slaughtered in the end.
This book gives a clear picture to what happens when a society is not educated enough to see through the lies they are being told.

Animal Farm
Animal farm
In animal farm the animals accepted Napoleons lies for many reasons. First reason is because Snow ball is not there to argue another side.” At the meetings Snowball often won over the majority by his brilliant speeches.” That leads them to believe in napoleon because they have no other choice now that Snowball is no longer there and they can’t choose between the lies of Napoleon and the truth of snowball. The second reason is because the animals are not smart. “Pigs were known to be the cleverest of animals.”
No other animals on the farm could read or write as well as the pigs. The third reason is that Napoleon is intimidating. Napoleon is usually seen with several big dogs guarding him. When the animals try to give their opinion the dogs let out a big deep growl to scares the animals which makes them be quite. These many reasons show why the animals had no choice but to accept napoleons lie.

The Most Dangerous Game
The Most Dangerous Game
Connell the author of “The Most Dangerous Game” values liberty more than equality. The first reason why I believe he values liberty more because he insults Ivan the servant in most descriptions. Ivan was the body guard of general Zaroff he was a Russian Cossack. General Zaroff insults him by saying “A simple fellow but like most of his race a bit of a savage”. This shows that Connell thinks that Russian Cossack are not equal to him they are savages. The second reason he values liberty is because he didn’t give Ivan any opinions or feelings he was more like a pet. General Zaroff said “but he has the misfortune of being death and dumb”. Ivan was a body guard and a servant despite the fact that he couldn’t read or talk, he was given commands
through hand gestures. This shows that Connell doesn’t care about people in a lower social class then him he believes that they should be seen and not heard, similar to the character Ivan. These two things show why I believe Connell value liberty more than equality.

Barack Obama believes that the Iraq war should be over. I know this because he says in his speech that by his 16th month in office he plans to remove all the troops from Iraq .However
McCain believes that the troops should stay in Iraq until they claim victory. I dont agree with him i believe that the war should be over cause it hurting our economy and that many soldiers are dying.
